Locked Documents
When your preparer uploads the final documents, they may require you to settle your invoice before you can access your files. Once you've paid the associated invoice, the document is unlocked and can be instantly previewed and downloaded.

Unlocking Documents from the Documents Page
If the document is locked, you will see the Pending payment for document notification in the Documents category of your Home and Documents pages. You will also see a lock icon next to it in the Recent and Folders tabs.
To unlock the file:
- Click the file name in the Waiting for action block or in the Recent or Folders tabs
- Review the invoice information and click Pay
- Enter your personal details and your credit card/bank account information, and proceed with payment
- Once payment has been made, the document will be instantly unlocked. You will now be able to view and download it.
Unlocking Documents from the Email Link
If you received an email notification about a locked document waiting for your signature or approval, you can click the link in the message to view it.
If the document is locked you will see the Pay Invoice sidebar.
To unlock the file:
- Review the invoice information and click Pay.
- Enter your personal details and your card details/bank account, and proceed with the payment.
- Once payment has been made, the document will be instantly unlocked. You will now be able to sign or approve it.
